This month Maryland began the process of Medicaid eligibility reviews. Eligibility occurs on a rolling basis over 12 months. The Maryland Department of Health Medicaid Administration has developed a toolkit to help providers connect with patients to alert them that they must take action this year.

“It is very important that we encourage Medicaid participants to make sure their contact information is up to date,” the administration website says. “We will motivate them to act when it’s their turn to renew so they can receive and respond to important messages about their health insurance.”

Among the tools the administration’s website offers that Renaye James Healthcare Advisors found most helpful are a 30-second video as well as outreach tools, such as a flyer and email template. Those tools are linked below for your convenience, or they can be downloaded from the administration's website.

“The Maryland Medicaid Administration has developed these polished products that will be vital for federally qualified health centers and other safety net organizations,” said Renaye James Healthcare Advisors CEO, Dr. Jenene Washington. “Some tools are already available in Spanish with more language options to come.”

“The prepackaged material ensures that busy healthcare organizations can quickly and easily implement resources and begin assisting patient populations to renew their Medicaid coverage,” Dr. Washington said.

“My team and I are eager to help communicate and guide this effort,” she added. “Having ready-made tools ensures a streamlined message to patients on the importance of Medicaid renewal and ensures that the healthcare teams can focus on what they do best, providing improved health outcomes for their patients and their communities.”
