Health Equity in Language

Association of American Medical Colleges has partnered with the American Medical Association to release Advancing Health Equity: A Guide to Language, Narrative, and Concepts. The devastating toll of COVID-19 on Black and Brown communities has proved that in order to improve the health of all, we must acknowledge and address the deeply ingrained beliefs, systems, and structures that have perpetuated inequities for far too long.

The guide provides a refreshing perspective on the language we already use and helps ensure that we are using patient-centered language. Read the guide here
